This week, customers whose domains are registered with were reporting issues where their website and email just stopped working. Some of our Google Apps users first noticed that inter-company email wasn’t getting through but over the course of an hour all email stopped flowing. We implemented a quick workaround for internal email by switching to using a Domain Alias–one that was already in place and registered with another registrar. However clients sending email to the usual address didn’t get so much as a non-delivery report and there was nothing we could do but wait for the registrar to patch the server.

When a DNS server is hacked it can take a few hours to fix and patch the problem but it should all be good after that.
