Three years ago, I bought Focal Clear headphones – they were astonishingly good – but the coiled headphone cable was too short and heavy for my use. So I hadn’t really used the coiled cable and it has sat in a drawer with some other cables while I used a 3rd party one that is a lot lighter. A few days ago my 3rd party cable broke, so I started using the Focal one. At first it looked okay but I soon realised its black insulation was breaking up and falling off. The more I tried to repair it the worse it got. In the video, I gently pull out the coils and the cable looks fine but after 60 sec it starts coming apart – disintegrating before my eyes.

For a £1200 set of headphones?
